EXTENSIONS.weave.WIGS.tracks???????????????

Oooooh the wonderful world of Enhancement! I truly honestly believe extensions, weaves,tracks etc. are God’s gift to us… of course when done correctly! They give us LENGTH, VOLUME, COLOR, HIGHLIGHTS… they give us the versatility that we love! So with that being said here are some tips to go by if you are choosing to EXTEND your personality…

When choosing extensions… first thing FIRST; Consultation! Go to your stylist and tell them what you want to look like. Even better show a picture, a picture literally is a thousand words that you don’t have to say. Do you want length? Add some peices for a highlight effect? Do you want volume? Or just want to put your natural hair up for 6-8 weeks… This will determine COST,time and method of installation.

Now that you know how you want to look…we choose the type of color ,length & texture of the hair.

• QUALITY:General rule of thumb; hair is literally ” YOU GET WHAT U PAY FOR” Cheap hair (anything under $30 a pack) will not last, probably wont curl BUT will GET MATTED!
• COST:You should Determine your Hair Budget by how long you plan to wear the extensions: 2-3 weeks ($40+) 4-6 weeks($80 +) 6-8 weeks ($100 +) per pack!
• ADDITIONAL COSTS:Color & longer lengths also cost more then the regular brown & black hair.
• HOW MUCH HAIR IN PACKS:Hair is packaged by weight. 4oz is usually a pack…so longer hair have shorter weft/tracks!
• HOW MANY PACKS SHOULD YOU GET?: This is determined by the type of style & head size …your stylist should let you know that in the consultation.Usually 2 packs is good but sometimes you may need 3, its one of those things that you would rather have more then less!

• INSTALLATIONS: There are many ways to get your extensions installed, here are a few ways and cost generally is up to the stylist that is installing it;

         SEW-IN ( full-head) means none of you natural hair is out ,

         SEW-IN NATURAL means only the perimeter (hairline) or a section of your hair that will be parted to cover up the tracks,

         PARTIAL SEW-IN means only a section of your hair is braided and sewn in, this would be used to add length in the back or volume in certain places,

         SEW-IN TRACK BY TRACK means adding a track virtually anywhere! Usually cost by track, so becarful on how many tracks you adding.

          FUSIONS which is individual hair is added to your hair by using glue

           MICRO LINKS is the same way except stylist use metal links instead of glue!

           BOND IN EXTENSIONS are tracks added to your hair using a bonding glue.These are  usually cheaper and they are temporary…they are also not recommended for constant wear.

           CLIP IN EXTENSIONS are track that have clips on them, they hook on to your hair. These extensions can be token out easily and put back easily.
